Mynaa can't be referred as a common kind of film in the tamil industry but at the same time it is not a film that is different from all kinds of tamil cinema. The narrative structure, kind of people and the locations has given a different feel to the movie. The director is bold enough as the very few directors who have successfully spoken about the people and their life's in a remote village. The special thing that makes the film unique is the director's choice of a village in a remote hill.
      The story of the film goes like this, Suruli is a common youngster of a remote village who has bidden good bye to his studies and is working from childhood. His only goal in life is to marry Mynaa who is his childhood friend. Suruli has been helping Mynaa and her mother since school days. The friendship between the two becomes a serious love at one point. But, Mynaa's mother is against them getting married and lounches a complaint against Suruli in the police for which he is arrested. Then at one point, Suruli escaps from the prison and two police officers come chasing him. They get him exactly when he he is ready to elope with Mynaa.
       The journey starts from here when Mynaa and Suruli start their travel with the two cops.
the cops are overwhelmed by the timely help from Mynaa and Suruli during the journey towards the prison and decide to help them. Then there are unsuspected twists in the story which leads to the climax.
       The director of the movie has to be appreciated for his brave effort. He has succeeded in rendering what he wants from the new faces. The newly found Vidharth (Suruli) and Amala (Mynaa) have really portrayed the lifes of south indian village youth who struggle to win their love. The eyes of Amala speaks louder then the other characters in the movie. It could have been better if Vidharth has not been over expressive at places. It is totally unfair if i forget to mention D.Iman the music director, he has shown a different face of him in this melodies. Specially, chinga chinga chinuku song makes the audience move to its rythm
       Sukumar's cinematography makes the viewers feel the cold breeze of the hill station through their eyes.
the editor L.K.V.Doss has done justice to the film. Director Prabu Solomon has stuffed the film with puches all over like Suruli riding the cycle for hours in the same place and projecting the beam
light on Mynaa's books for her to study for the examination. Scenes like Mynaa getting hurt on the foot and Suruli carrying her on his back and the climax brings tears on the eyes of most of the women in theaters. Though the movie resembles some of the recent releases when u see the posters because of the costumes and make-up, you will change your idea when you watch the movie on theaters. The costumes of the movie were mostly hired from the people living around the villages the movie was shot. I have no idea why the director has allowed the audience to feel bored at some places of the movie. The movie seems over dramatic sometimes since there is too much sadness and tears all over the film.
       Whatever it is, the fact that Mynaa is going to be a diwali treat for all kollywood fans is undeniable.
